My name is John Viviano. This site is not so much about me as who and what I care about.

An IT and Product Development professional. A business starter. An educator. A deep personal and professional commitment to protecting vulnerable children.

Learning

As co-founder and partner of an EdTech called Evidentia Learning, I have helped build a global learning community of hundreds of institutions and thousands of medical professionals committed to serving victims of child abuse and neglect. The US alone reports over 650,000 substantiated cases of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect each year, including over 1800 deaths in 2019. The CDC estimates that over the lifetime of the child, each case of abuse or neglect results in an $830,928 economic impact on our communities. The impact on the child is incalculable. In entrepreneur-speak, it’s a problem worth solving. If you’d like to learn more, please visit Evidentia Learning.

I hold an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, one of the most beautiful and inviting campuses anywhere. Upon graduation, I was asked to return as an Adjunct Lecturer, giving me the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with tomorrow’s leaders. Working in both the Master of Accounting program and the MBA program, I teach classes on value creation and preservation with Information Technology. With every company finding itself on the frontlines of cyber warfare, it is a highly relevant topic. I came to WashU to learn from others; I am deeply grateful for the influence of the exceptional faculty, my classmates, and my students. Volunteering

If Evidentia Learning is about serving vulnerable children at scale, my volunteer work as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is about serving children one-on-one. I have been the CASA to several children from ages 4 to 17 over the course of more than a dozen years. I am currently in my fifth year on the board of our local CASA organization where I have a special interest in improving outcomes for our most complex and challenging cases. If you’d like to learn more about how you can become a volunteer or foster parent, or if you’d like to make a donation, please visit CASA of Mideast Missouri.

IT Entrepreneur and Leader

As a software developer and an IT leader, I have had the good fortune to have spent most of my career working on scientific, technical, and medical applications, and working with extraordinarily talented individuals at all levels of organizations. I have developed online products with the world’s largest medical and scientific publishers. I worked in the skunkworks for one large technology company and I ran the innovation lab for another. I have led development teams in the fields of genomics, and in personalized medicine via cancer genomics. It is an honor to help people become who they want to be and to create what they want to create.

I have personally been involved in creating numerous technology-enabled products, and have founded three startups, including Evidentia Learning.

I’m available for limited consulting engagements through StartIN.

A little more personal

I have two grown children, my son is an Aerospace Engineer, and my daughter serves in the United States Air Force. My wife and I live in rural Missouri where we have converted much of our land to Missouri native plants. Beautiful. Tranquil. Different every day. Follow me on Instagram if you like that sort of thing.

I have one guiding principle and it’s this: Respect. For yourself. For the world around you. For people you know. And for people you don’t know.

I start every day with a gratitude walk - a few moments of quiet reflection, close to nature, thankful to have the day, thankful for the opportunity to serve the people and causes I believe in.
